Who We Serve

Independent Identity is a therapeutic center and community based program in Austin, Texas serving adults (18+) with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities who require higher levels of support.

Many of the individuals we serve have not had access to traditional adult programs due to complex needs or challenging behaviors. Our program is designed to meet them where they are — with compassion, structure, and individualized support.

Through a combination of center-based and community-based services, clients work on:

  • Communication skills
  • Vocational and daily living skills
  • Social connection and engagement
  • Reducing behaviors that limit independence

Our goal is to help each individual build the skills and confidence needed to access more independent and less restrictive opportunities over time.

The cost of services at Independent Identity varies depending on each individual’s needs and available funding sources. We work with a combination of private insurance, Texas Medicaid waiver programs, and private pay to support access to care.

We are currently in-network with select insurance providers for ABA services, which may cover a portion of programming for eligible individuals. Many clients also utilize Medicaid waiver funding, which may cover services fully or partially depending on their plan.

As part of our funding structure, available payors must be utilized first, and private pay is reserved for individuals who do not have access to other funding sources.

Because each situation is unique, we encourage families to reach out so we can review funding options and provide a more personalized estimate.
