Our Program
Clients who attend Independent Identity's day program participate in activities throughout the day to work on communication, social, leisure, vocational and independent living skills. Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are embedded into activities through out the day to increase motivation and skill acquisition.
Upon enrollment, each client is assessed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) using the Essential for Living curriculum and assessment and an individualized treatment plan is created. A functional behavior assessment and behavior plan will also be created when needed.
Clients will work with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and/or BCBAs in groups based on level of need. Staff to client ratios will be no more than 1:4 with the goal of increasing ratios. RBTs will collect data on an ongoing basis for progress monitoring. All programs and implementation are supervised by BCBAs.
A Day In The Program
Independent Identity runs from 9:00am- 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
On any given day you can find our clients cooking, playing games with friends, working on self advocacy, practicing toothbrushing and other hygiene skills, and practicing job skills. Within the community our clients visit local business to practice generalization of the skills we've practiced. Some of these businesses include local grocery stores, movie theaters, clothing stores, offices, restaurants, and parks.
Our Client Criteria
Ages 18+
Diagnosis of Autism, Intellectual Disability or related disorder.
Require ratio lower than 1:6 to be successful in a group setting.
Working on skills acquisition in communication, independent living skills, social and leisure skills, and vocational skills.
Needs support working through challenging behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, and property destruction.
